Training

AFIRE personnel are conducting two major training programs each year in Cambodia.  There are also smaller training programs throughout the year as part of an on going commitment to ensuring that the firefighters in Cambodia can provide a safe and effective emergency service to their community.

Personal Protective Clothing Rollout

AFIRE has secured over 1000 complete sets of Personal Protective Equipment from The Metropolitan Fire Brigade in Melbourne, Australia.  This has enabled AFIRE to provide not only protection to the Cambodian Firefighters but also an identity and uniform.  This ties in with the new Fire Service badge.  See below.

Badge Design

The current badge (displayed) has related to both the fire service and the police force.  A new badge has been designed by AFIRE in partnership with the Cambodian Ministry of Interior.  This will be released for public viewing after the formal review process is completed.

Hose and Coupling Standardisation

With many countries around the world having made attempts to assist the Cambodian Fire Department, the issue of hose and coupling compatibility has arisen.  AFIRE is in the process of standardising the hose and couplings in use across Cambodia.  This coincides with the introduction of new hose into the country.

Airport Fire Service

As a way of integrating and ensuring coordinated emergency response at all levels, AFIRE have been fostering ties between the Cambodian Fire Service and the privately operated Airport Fire Service (CAMS).  This has been achieved by combined training drills and the proactive attitude of the CAMS management.

Community Education Package

With great assistance from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade in Melbourne Australia, AFIRE personnel in association with Charles Darwin University have developed a Community Education Package that has been translated and printed for use in Cambodia.  It is designed to educate children and adults how to safely use fire and what to do in the event of fire.

Community Support Program

As part of AFIRE’s commitment to providing assistance to the fire services of developing countries, we also understand and respect the many other Non Government Organisations that work tirelessly to assist those less fortunate.  AFIRE has facilitated and coordinated the installation of over 100 water wells in remote area communities.

Policies and Procedures

AFIRE is continually working with the government and fire department leaders to develop and initiate policies and procedures to ensure effective management and accountability.
